Reliable welding with crack resistance

Practical benefits
  • Strong and clean joints: With the Esab OK 48.00 electrode, you achieve tough, crack-resistant welds on unalloyed and low-alloy structural steels.
  • Complete protection against moisture: Thanks to the sealed VacPac packaging, you use electrodes with guaranteed low moisture content without re-drying.
  • Smooth and stable arc: You maintain full control with low spatter levels and high productivity, even in demanding vertical-up welding positions.

In a nutshell

The right choise for

With the Esab ok 48.00 basic coated welding electrodes, you create tough, crack-resistant joints on unalloyed carbon steels, carbon-manganese steels, and fine-grained steels. These 3.2 x 350 mm electrodes (E7018 H4 r / e 42 4 b 42 H5) run on direct current (DC+ or DC-) and deliver a smooth, stable arc with minimal spatter, even during demanding vertical-up welding. Thanks to the vacuum-sealed VacPac packaging containing 47 rods, the coating is completely protected against moisture. You can weld immediately without prior re-drying, saving valuable time on structural fabrication, pressure vessels, and industrial maintenance jobs.

Product description

OK 48.00 is a basic, low-hydrogen electrode for welding unalloyed, carbon-manganese and fine-grained steels. The electrode produces tough and crack-resistant weld metal and, thanks to its moisture-resistant coating (H4R), is suitable for structures subject to high loads and critical stress conditions. The stable arc, good penetration and high welding speed during vertical-up welding make OK 48.00 a widely used electrode for demanding applications.

  • Basic, low-hydrogen electrode for unalloyed and fine-grained steels
  • Classification AWS A5.1 E7018 H4 R / EN ISO 2560-A E 42 4 B 42 H5
  • Moisture-resistant coating with very low hydrogen content
  • Tough, crack-resistant weld metal with good mechanical properties
  • High welding speed for vertical-up welding
  • Suitable for structures subject to high tensile loads
  • To be used with DC+(-)

OK 48.00 is used for steel structures, bridges, pressure vessels, shipbuilding and other critical structural works where a reliable welded joint with high toughness and low hydrogen content is required.
